Prayer for peace from the Buddhist tradition

At the interfaith celebration of MLK Day January 16th, CIC board member Betty Klein and Janaina Siegler offered this prayer for peace, a chant practiced by all members of Soka Gakkai International.

From the Buddhist Tradition:

Nam-myoho-renge-kyo

Nam – to devote or dedicate oneself

Myoho – universal mystic law

Renge – simultaneity of cause and effect, just as the lotus flower blooms and seeds from a muddy pond

Kyo – sutra or teaching

Nam-myoho-renge-kyo literally means I dedicate my life to the mystic law of cause and effect through this teaching.
