The Interfaith Coalition for Mental Health (ICMH) hosted a luncheon and panel discussion on depression in congregations, accompanied with an interfaith prayer service, on Wednesday April 18th. In a dynamic interview format, Dr. Arman Siddiqui, a local psychiatrist at Adult Child and Health, spoke with Pastor John Girton (“Pastor G”) – leaders in our local faith communities discussed the dynamics of depression and the impact on all levels of congregations. This dialogue sought to break down stigma and catalyze action by developing a more comprehensive awareness of both clinical depression and the nuances of our diverse faith traditions. The discussion was followed by a brief interfaith prayer service with prayers for healing from Christian, pagans,Buddhist, Muslims and others.
