Tim Cox leads NAMI’s LGBTQ Support Group for 18 and up on Mondays from 6 – 7:30 PM at Adult & Child Services (603 East Washington Street, Indianapolis- 9th floor). Read his “8 Pieces of Advice to Increase Inclusivity in Faith Communities.”
Indiana Youth Group (IYG) representatives Teayarnna and Jamie spoke about IYG’s programs. IYG is an organization that creates safe spaces, provides welcoming programming, and education LGBTQ youth and the community. See all of the resources they have for community organizations!
Trinity Haven’s new Executive Director Jenni White spoke about Trinity Haven, Indiana’s first residential facility to focus on the needs of LGBTQ youth who are at risk for homelessness. They expect to open in the summer of 2019, welcoming at least 10 residents. Read more about Trinity Haven.
Robert Thompson of All Souls Unitarian Church spoke about the church’s role as an LGBTQ affirming space. Hosting an LGBTQ prom and youth group, Robert encouraged faith communities to include LGBTQ affirming events. Read more about All Souls Unitarian Church’s efforts in inclusivity.
