Hoosiers of Many Faiths in Community

Meet an AmeriCorps member — Heidi Oates

Put your hands together to welcome one of the new members of the Interfaith Enrichment Corps, Heidi Oates. Heidi tells us about herself.

Hi! My name is Heidi. My CIC/Americorps site is Martin University. My role as a Project Director is to help bridge gaps between available resource providers such as Community Health Network and populations needing those resources. These populations include pregnant women, single mothers of very young children, and other residents who are considered “at-risk” due to their location, environment, social dynamics, and/or financial circumstances. I am excited to be a part of the Americorps/CIC team because it has provided the awesome opportunity to work with a diverse, intelligent, and dynamic group of individuals who are ready to make a positive difference in the world. This program also empowers me to be a blessing to families that I empathize with. As a Martin University Graduate and Minister of my faith, I bring an insider’s perspective on how to relationally connect with and contribute to this community, which I love.
