A gardener. A crime fighter. A meal provider. A computer game creator.

They were among 12 Indianapolis volunteers recognized Monday night by Mayor Greg Ballard with Community Service Awards.

KP-SINGH-awardThe 22nd annual awards ceremony recognized residents countywide. Each recipient receives a brick engraved with his or her name that is placed on the Mayor’s Volunteer Plaza, at the Downtown Canal basin on 11th Street.

Here’s a look at the winners…

Kanwal Prakash Singh

Kanwal Prakash Singh came to the Hoosier state from India 46 years ago. Within his first decade here, he founded the International Center of Indianapolis in hopes of bringing cultural and interfaith awareness to his new home. Since then he has focused on cultural understanding and historic preservation. He founded KP Singh Designs, a business that defends historic architecture in Indiana.
