Why she chose AmeriCorps service: “I am motivated more by helping people than by money,” Hanako said.
 
Why AmeriCorps and IRSC are important: “AmeriCorps helps builds organizational capacity.,” Hanako said. “IRSC helps connect organizations and makes collaboration easier.”
 
Education: B.A. in International Studies with minors in Japanese and Spanish. She plans to get her master degree in the future and earn certifications in Literary Translation and TESOL.
 
What does Hanako’s family think about her AmeriCorps service? “My parents have always encouraged me to help others,” Hanako said.
 
Hobbies: Eisa (Okinawan drum dancing). She has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
