On July 20, 2019, we will be celebrating the Babar & Haris Suleman Memorial Soccer Festival. My family and I have had the immense pleasure of coordinating this event for the past four years. With the help of our friends and community, we have kept the story and spirit of Babar and Haris alive, while raising money for a cause dear to their hearts. Thank you all for joinining us in this journey over the years. But this is not the end. We hope you will continue to remember Babar and Haris, continue to be inspired by their story, and in turn, inspire others to make a change as well. Thank you for all you have done, and as always, remember to #LiveLikeHaris.

On June 19, 2014, the father-and-son team took off from Greenwood, Indiana to begin their flight around the world to raise awareness and funds for education. On July 23, 2014, just two days short of returning home, their journey came to a tragic end.

The Babar & Haris Suleman Memorial Soccer Festival celebrates their legacies, love of soccer, and desire to give back to education and the community. The anniversary of the tragic accident has been turned into a successful, positive community event that has hosted 90 players and over 300 spectators in its first year. The proceeds from the event (over $3,000 last year) go to the Haris Suleman Memorial Scholarship at Plainfield High School where Haris attended.

The Babar & Haris Suleman Soccer Festival is more than just a fun 5v5 soccer tournament, it is becoming a community event for all ages. Money raised from the festival goes to the Haris Suleman Memorial Scholarship Fund at Plainfield High School where Haris attended school.

This year’s festival will be a little different…we will focus solely on the thing that brought our community together when my dad was coach, and when my brother was a teammate: soccer. We ask Spectators to donate what they can, buy t-shirts to show support, and overall, support education in my brother’s name.

Thank you for your support and we’ll see you on the field!
