The Indianapolis Peace & Justice Center will present Julie Sommers Neuman, Executive Director of Coalition for Our Immigrant Neighbors (COIN) to discuss the current crisis at our southern border, and the realities of immigration here in Indiana. An attorney with practical experience helping those seeking asylum here, she can help us understand the tension between the U.S. as a historical nation of immigrants and the current political uproar. COIN is very active in Central Indiana, providing legal assistance for undocumented immigrants. In the spring Julie led a group of lawyers and interpreters to Dilley, Texas, location of the largest detention for mothers and children who crossed the border seeking asylum.

See a news story from WTHR about the mission to Dilley.
