The Hunger Awareness Prayer Walk @ Particular congregations

The Hunger Awareness Prayer Walk seeks to invite churches in central Indiana to pray for their neighborhoods simultaneously.

  • Individual participants are encouraged to bring canned goods to be collected by the local church. If the church has a food pantry, they may keep the collections; if not, the church may elect to donate the collections to a local neighborhood food pantry. (Individuals can also participate and may form a group locally.)
  • Official FHL Week t-shirt is available for $25 each ($15 is tax-deductible). To order, email by 7/15 with your size, church name, and address.
  • All participants should sign their name on an Attendance Sheet to make sure the local church accounts for everyone.
  • Before the walk, the church leader will lead a short prayer, share the purpose, the vision and give instructions.
  • Prayer Walk starts at 3 pm on Sunday, July 21st at your individual church
  • Form teams to walk together. The size of your teams depends on the number of participants.
  • Plan to walk for an hour around your church neighborhood
    • Use Google map to identify the streets and areas for prayer walking
    • Form groups with Team leaders having the map for their team and ensure that all team members are well informed of the walk.
    • Team leaders must ensure the safety of everyone by reminding everyone to walk on sidewalks. Children under 18 years of age must always be with their parents or guardians.
  • While prayer walking, everyone is encouraged to:
    • Pray for businesses such as retailers, gas stations, restaurants, local banks, etc.
      • Ask permission if you can bless their business
    • Each participant should have note pads and pens so they can jot down any observations and needs about the neighborhood and what God may be saying.
    • Pray that God would reveal His plan to alleviate hunger (physical, emotional, spiritual) beyond giving bags of food.
      • Involvement and engagement of the local community to serve together
      • Let the everyone know about the state of hunger in Indiana (see above info)
