Posted by on Apr 30, 2013 in Blog, Dance and Religion | 0 comments

On Saturday, we had the last event of the Intersection of Dance, Religion, and Culture as part of the Butler University Arts Fest. It was a great time of learning about Filipino culture and dance, and then learning part of a dance ourselves! I introduced the project with the following words:   Hello! My name is Moira Frazier, and I was an intern at the Center for Interfaith Cooperation this year. I am a junior at Butler University, where I am a Religious Studies major with minors...

King’s Dream: Barack Obama and the Dalai Lama

Posted by on Feb 6, 2013 in Blog, IRSC | 1 comment

by Waddell Hamer Recently, President Barack Obama was inaugurated for his second term as President of the United States. As fate would have it, his second Inauguration happened to fall on the national holiday of Dr. Martin Luther King. The significances of the two events are obvious and easy to point out for most people. Many people like to imagine that what we witnessed that Monday was part of what Dr. King was referring to on the steps of the National Mall on August 28, 1963. It is a very...

Posted by on Jan 15, 2013 in Blog, IRSC | 0 comments

By Lyndsay Crespo It’s the beginning of a new year, and for many people, that means new goals to achieve, new ideas to explore, and new experiences to grow from. For us involved with the Immigrant and Refugee Service Corps, it means we are back full force and are busy organizing events, projects, resources, and ourselves for the upcoming months of our service. I am well-accustomed to new beginnings in my life, and for me, they represent an exciting time to grow, share, and learn. When I moved to Mexico a few...
